Today I created the questionairre that I will be handing out to research my audience. I’m pleased with the questions I’ve asked as they are thorough and I think I will gain a lot from my findings.

From this task I want to get a better understanding of what other teengers like myself want from a music magazine, including the types of music they listen to. It was interesting researching music genres, I didn’t realise there were so many and it took me a while to narrow them down to what I thought were nescarray for the questionairre. I also learnt about the income classes. I think this is quite important especially when linked with the question ‘How much would you be willing to pay for a weekly music magazine?’ because peoples spending habits have probably changed a lot since the credit crunch.

7 Researching my audience – Questionnaire – 10/02/09

I’ve decieded that my target audience is going to be teenagers as I feel that I’ll produce a better magazine if it’s one targeted at people like me. I have producedf a questionnaire which will be given to people within my age range and from the answers I hope to be able to make a more specific magazine which i suitable to its target audience.

I think it is very important to find out what kinds of music my audience listen to so i narrowed down music genres until i got these:

I chose to ask about the sex of the person because I think it would be interesting to find if there is a significant difference between girls and boys and this will also aid my decision to make a  magazine targeted at males, females or both.

By finding out where the person is graded by income I can then use this to price my magazine. If my target audience are mainly grade E than they are less likely to splash out on a magazine then someone in grade A or B.

I’ve asked what people want from a magazine and have given options as well as keeping it open. This means that if someone had any strong ideas or opinions they could put this in.

I’m also curious as to what people would like to see on a front cover. I predict that most boys will chose men and most girls will chose women, but this is something I’ll find out from my results.
